Bill Schrier's mother was Mercedes Rottinghaus Schrier. Merce's parents were John Rottinghaus and Ella Dittmer Rottinghaus. There are many Rottinghaus relatives and their genealogy has been well-documented by June Rottinghaus of Seneca Kansas.

John and Ella Rottinghaus Family

• John and Ella Dittmer Rottinghaus had seven children: Firmin, Gilbert, Alice, Robert and Roderick (twins), Merce and Alvin. They raise the family on a farm near Gilbertville (Waterloo), Iowa.
• Firmin and Alma Gales Rottinghaus had seven children. Firmin and Alma farmed near Gilbertville all their lives.
• Gilbert and Marie Meier Rottinghaus had eleven children. Gilbert and Marie farmed near Gilbertville and in Arkansas. Marie still lives near Eagle Center, Iowa
• Robert and Doris Cavanaugh Rottinghaus had fourteen children. Robert and Doris farmed near Jesup, Iowa, all their lives and still live near the home farm.
• Roderick and Bernices Bloes had two children. Roderick died tragically in a gas furnace explosion in 1949. Bernice remarried and had additional children as Bernice Even.
• Robert Schrier and Mercedes Rottinghaus had six children. Our family is described on the Schrier family page.
• Alvin and Collette Etringer Rottinghaus had six children. Alvin and Collette farmed all their lives on the Rottinghaus home farm near Gilbertville, and still reside in Gilbertville, Iowa.

Rottinghaus Ancestors in Kansas and elsewhere

John Rottinghaus' parents were Henry Rottinghaus and Barbara Weber. Henry and Barbara had ten children, Mary, Clement, Jacob, Joseph, George, Helena, Frank, Albert and Paul. Frank's son Walt married June Buessing. June has extensively documented the Rottinghaus famly genealogy.

Henry's parents (John's grandparents and, therefore, Bill Schrier's great-great Grandparents) were Bernard rottinghaus and Anges Putthuf.
