About the Schrier Family of Traer, Iowa

Updated 9 August 2009

Our Schrier family name is actually an Americanization of the Czech name "Srajer". We are not related to most other people with the name "Schriers", other than via Adam and Eve! Frank Joseph Srajer came to America in 1884, changed his name to "Schreier" and finally to "Schrier", probably (as family legend has it), he wanted it pronounced correctly here.

Frank's brothers were John and Joseph Srajer, and his sister was Christina Waldo. See the Srajer family page for more information about the Srajers of Kansas.
